I am a consumer protection attorney working in Washington, DC and Maryland. My firm is investigating Mastercraft. It would be helpful to our investigation if we could speak to anyone who has the doors installed in their home or business. If you are willing to have a brief conversation, I can be reached at (202) 789-3960 or by e-mail at [email protected] Thank you in advance for your consideration.

I am finishing my basement and decided to use the Mastercraft doors at Menards as I had bought most of my supplies at our local store. DON'T waste your money on these doors! First off their "engineered" frames are particle board with some kind of plastic shrink wrap on them that virtually no paint will stick to, it just peels off. Second, the hinges are not mortised correctly and most of the hinges won't fit in their mortis. Overall quality is poor. If I had the time and money I would replace them.

I purchased the Mastercraft interior prehung 6 panel molded doors and will agree they are garbage. The frames are particle board covered in plastic that they say is paintable (Have not tried yet) and the hinges do not line up. If you have never hung a door before these would discourage you from ever trying again. I will never purchase a Mastercraft door ever again.

I bought some Mastercraft french doors from menards it's true menards won't back up the doors they say you have to fill out this paper and send it to manufacture the seals on the the Glass panels are leaking moisture in between the glass the seals have blown, also the doors are not made square there just thrown together there outer trim molding is made in pieces and falls apart they are really junk doors I'll never buy them again

Cold climates because wood is not a good insulator and wood can also warp and also requires yearly, as well it should be the lighter and inner way to control the windows part.

We purchased a Mastercraft® LT-8 36" x 80" Steel Prehung Exterior Door with Blinds-Between-the-Glass Full Lite - Right Inswing for $320 at our local Menards in Battle Creek, Michigan. It was installed properly and sealed properly and has leaked since the first rain. It continues to leak when it rains or snows. Which happens quite a bit in Michigan. After contacting the manufacturer whose advice was to return the installed door to Menards, we needed to have a receipt which we did not save. I understand that we should have saved it and generally we do but in the shuffle of receipts we didn't save that one. Since this door leaks so much it has ruined our subfloor. We have tried sealing resealing and sealing again and nothing is helping. We had to replace our roof (we are in the middle of a huge remodel/rebuild project) and did not have the extra money to buy another door at the time. We have been keeping a fan on it to help dry it up so keep the damage to a minimum.
Midwest Manufacturing will do nothing to assist consumers in this issue. It is a big corporation who does not care about the few homeowners out there. Sorry folks we just don't matter to them.

BV003451. I am curious if you did take them to small claims and how it turned out? We have had ours on for less than four years. It's a del french door leading to our patio. So other than replacing the glass there is not enough money in our budget do do much else. Unfortunately it ruined the cmposite tile flooring near the door which is no longer made. Matching that up is going to be a challenge. Most interrogating is the dampness that is within the drywall around the door. I did a mold test and of course guess what...we have mold! Ugh. Makes me so mad!
