I accidently bumped a table lamp (it didnt fall down, just jostled it) and ever since then it stopped working as a 3-way lamp. I changed the bulb (which did not work). One of the really annoying things is that since it is only on/off, when it is on, it is really dim (the same brightness it would be if it was on the lowest level of the three settings). Do i have to re-wire it?

If an new 3-way bulb doesn't work, unplug the light, remove the bulb, and look into the socket. There should be 2 metal connecting points there besides the threaded base. Is one of them broken or bent? If so, that's the problem.

Otherwise, the switch must have failed.
