Can someone help me? I am VERY new at painting - I just did it for the first time this week. I covered the baseboards with masking tape, but in several places the paint seeped through. I didn't take the tape off until the paint was nearly dry, so by the time I realized what had happened, I couldn't just wipe it off like I wanted to! Is there a safe product that can help me fix this? I don't want to strip the whole baseboards, I just want the bits of white paint off the brown baseboards One other thing - I'm pregnant, so I need something that isn't real toxic! Thanks in advance...

Is the paint oil or latex? What material is the baseboard?

It's latex paint, but I also got some primer on there, too (that probably won't come off, eh?) To be honest, I don't know what kind of wood the baseboards are. Is there a way to know just by looking at it?

Try warm water with a small amount of dish soap (1/2 oz.soap to 1/2 gal. water)and dampen an abrasive backed sponge with the mixture. With the abrasive side of sponge work on the latex.Semi-gloss should come right off...flat and primer may be harder. If you got more paint on the baseboards than this method is worth, think about painting the baseboards.Instead of masking tape, you can buy a metal paint shield for under ten dollars. This allows you to see what you're doing as you go along so you can wipe mistakes while still wet.

Thank you so much for your help! I'm going to try this today and hopefully I can put the furniture back! LOL! Also, thank you for the suggestion on what to use instead of masking tape. I was honestly surprised that it leaked through, since it was marketed as "painter's tape". I guess I'm assuming too much, eh? I think I did get up enough courage to try another room though - yay! Thanks again!
