We have 3 sets of stairs outside our home. All are made of one piece of concrete. Largest is front steps/porch. Its abt 6' wide, has 4 steps, and has a apx. 4' x 6' landing/top. THREE QUESTIONS: (1) Is the faux stone avble at Lowe's okay for covering all vertical parts? (We live in SE Mass). (2) What is the right name of slabs of stone that are gray-ish and you use to cover the stairs themselves? Is it called Blue Stone? (3) How do I remove the ugly metal railings on either side? Thank you! Betty

- What Stone Best for Ext Stairs/Porch?
Hi Betty,
Just make sure that you use a stone that is built to withstand temperature changes and do your research on what to do to avoid water infiltration under the stone. Your local Lowe's expert should be able to help with this easily.

It should unbolt. If not, you might have to cut it with a saw and then drill the area around the bolt until it wiggles out. That's what we ended up having to do to ours.
