I have a kenmore 70 series washer that wont spin or drain.

serial #: CG4881174

stock#: 26722

model#: 110.26722693

I drained it by hand & checked for kinks in the hose & it still wont spin or drain. Inspected the lid switch mechanism & Im wondering if there is a tab or something that may have broken off & which is usually held down when the lid is closed. lid seems to be fine, not bent or anything. pin on the lid goes into the hole where I assume the lid switch (tab) would be, but doesn't hit anything. I can look in & see the lid switch mechanism in tact (screwed to the inside of the lid) but no tab that would be held down. I also tried to hold it down with my finger but could not.

any suggestions?

It should press against the stirrup shaped 'paddle' of the switch to activate it. That paddle could have broken off.

You can see what the lid switch for your model should look like at the following link.
