how many coats of primer do i need on a newly rocked room?

You need to apply one even solid coat of primer and two coats of finish paint on new drywall for the best looking job. After the primer is dry you should lightly sand the entire wall for a nice smooth finish.

Then don't sand,some people will actually take advice to heart and have seen people sand a knock-down wall because some one told them to sand after priming.We came in to paint this home after it got a fresh tex job.
