Hardwood Laminate and Remodel

We installed a hardwood (oak) laminate (glued planks) in a large living room area some years ago and now plan a remodel that may require significant changes to the configuration of the room. What, if any, are my options for re-using portions of the flooring? (Although worn it can be refinished.)

I need a little bit more info. You said oak, but also laminate. Is it real wood? If it is, and it is glued down, then when you tear it out, it will be useless. If it is a glued lam, same thing.

It is a real (oak) floor laminate approx. 3/8" thick. It is a floating floor. I gather there is no way to disassemble the floor without damaging it? I was also thinking I might be able to cut a section to re-use.

I should add one more thing -- the entire floor isn't glued down. The planks are 3 strip planks and are glued together on the edges.

i had an installer who took a living floor ( lamanite,about 15 x 20) made a paper pattern of his kitchen , cut out the laminate and reinstalled it in his kitchen (one piece)so you might be able to do somthing with it,however the floor should only be installed once,...good luck
