I have a house in Mississippi that was built in the 50's. It is framed out of rough cut lumber. The home is gutted and I want to remodel it but the local building inspector says it has to be demolished because rough cut lumber isn't approved for construction. Wouldn't the house be Grandfathered in since it was built before building codes were adopted. I will not be doing any structural changes, just new elect. plumb, hvac, insulation(which it didn't have) and drywall. Everything other than Framing will be inspected. I cannot find any info on rough cut homes in Mississippi. Please help
