Water in basement
I purchased a house “As Is”. Problem is in the basement. More often than not water is pouring up through cracks in the floor. It appears the water table is right under the slab and with each rain the water percolates up. There is a sump pump that continuously cycles and the water is pumped out to lawn. It is a very small plot and there is no place to pump the water out to other than the lawn. I’ve been told the only solution is to pour concrete over the existing slab up to a point that the water table does not reach. I would be ok with sacrificing this small 22x25 basement and convert it into a crawl space since there are no mechanicals in it. Any thoughts?
