I have a older ZZ Tree. The fruit looks like a long olive. Told you could make wine from the fruit. Have many local people to stop, ask if they might have some to eat. This is in the Cane River area in NE Louisiana in the area where Melrose Plantation is. Anyone have an idea of what you could do with the fruit?

Am here only part of the year.

I am amazed that I found this post. I grew up in Natchitoches and this is the only place I have ever seen or heard of this tree. The fruit from the tree is delicious and can be eaten like an apple. It has a similar taste and texture of an apple. Enjoy!

I finally found the correct name jujube tree. I am from the cane river area of Melrose and we owned a tree and also friends. Look it up, surprised me. It is from Asian decent. Scientific name ZiZiphus jujuba. Known to us as the zi zi tree.
