Hi, just wondering, is there a way to change a gas hook-up in the house to an electric hook-up for the dryer. I have an electric dryer, but am moving to a place with gas hook-up. How do I change this, and about how much does it cost on average?

A gas dryer operates on a regular 120 volt circuit, an electric dryer operates on 240 volts. A new 240 line would need to be installed right from the fuse box if one doesn't already exist (provided the fuse box has the capacity to carry the extra circuit). Call an electrician.

The gas line can just be capped off if it isn't needed.

my present dryer is a gas one.I need to get a new washing machine. The size has to be small to fit into a closet. Can I convert a gas one to an electric dryer.
