Hi, all,

I just removed wallpaper using Dif. Following the directions, I washed the walls thoroughly with warm water and a sponge before priming with a tinted primer. However, it seems that much of the paste remains, and it's showing through the primer as dark splotches. What should I do? I unpapered (is that a word?) and painted my bathroom the same way, and didn't have this problem. Help!

Thanks,

Linda

As the Dif instructions point out, some wallpapers are tougher than others, and sometimes more glue is there than others. (That probably explains why the first time you used it it worked, whereas the second it did not). Sometimes you need to put a second coat of Dif on even after you remove the paper, so as to remove the rest of the residue.

Since you've already primed over the left-over paste, I suggest you lightly sand to make sure the walls are smooth, prime those areas again, then go ahead and paint.
(Note that most things that show through the primer don't show through the paint that goes over the primer.)
