I heard that some rugs have pestisides in them. I'm very worried because I purchased one from Costco on-line a few years ago and have a 8 month old baby. The rug is wool. It smells bad, but how would I know if it's a harmful odor? Is there a person I should call that specializes in this type of thing?

there may be a local lab that can test it for you.

here is a web search on it that may help you.

While on the subject of Oriental rugs, here is one of the best resources that I have found for spot and stain removal for rugs - http://www.orientalrugcare.com.au/Spot-Stain-Removal/Rug-Stain-Chart.htm
