Clogged kitchen sink
Every few months my kitchen sink clogs up. After the PVC drain trap there's about 30 feet of 1 1/2 inch PVC that feeds into the larger PVC drainage pipe & out the house. About halfway thru there's a drain tap. When I take it's cap off the pipe is loaded with gunk. How can I both clean this system immediately & prevent this constant backup?
Thank you for your suggestions and in a perfect world I would replace 1 1/2 inch PVC drainage with 2 inch pipe. But if you or anyone would suggest a product or method to help keep the existing kitchen drain PVC pipe from clogging every couple months it would be appreciated.
Are there any products or methods that I can use aside from calling a plumber, to prevent these lines from backing up, thanks.
I don't know much about plumbing except changing things out. My neighbor recommended for me to prevent my pipes form clogging to use lye every week. Don't know if this helps...????
I don't know if I would want to use lye in PVC pipes, especially since you have no personal experience with it. Are there any other good methods or products to prevet kitchen sinks from cloging?
What exactly does a Water Jet look like? Is it a soft black rubber piece of hose that screws into a garden hose on one end & is open on the other end? I think I have one made by "Drain King"
No garbage disposal installed to worry about. However I was told to pour down the drain a cup of baking soda, vinegar, followed by a potful of boiling hot water after 15 minutes once a month. But you say not to use boiling water on PVC, that it will distort it, is that so ?
