I had new windows installed this week and I have questions on whether they did the install correctly. They put the side trim on at an angle so the gap between the window and the old wood frame would be covered. I asked if they should instead provide new trim so it is flush and they said no, but they could leave the old trim flush and I’d have to add caulk to the gap. Is this correct? Should window trim be installed at an angle?

I’m also wondering if the window should have a gap at the bottom and trim piece (see picture). They said the window would not fit up against the bottom trim piece so I need to add caulk to this location.

Here are pictures of the trim. The first picture shows the trim flush against the side piece and the window has a gap that they said I need to fill with caulk. The second photo shows the trim at an angle.
